When news broke that he would be meeting none other than the young Turk Akhilesh Yadav, I was beside myself. My two greatest heroes in the same frame, this was too much for my feeble heart to handle.
Not only that, Rajini sir would be visiting Ayodhya, the birthplace of my favorite deity, Lord Ram. Could this trip get any better? Pack your bags, we’re going on a road trip I told my friend.

When I heard Rajinikanth was visiting Ayodhya, I knew this wasn’t going to be any ordinary PR stunt. After all, this is the Superstar we’re talking about.
- Upon arriving in the holy city, Rajini made a beeline for the Ram Janmabhoomi site where a grand Ram Mandir is under construction. According to onlookers, Rajini offered prayers with the earnestness of a devout bhakt. No surprise there – the man is known for his spirituality. What did surprise me was that he apparently recited the Hanuman Chalisa and broke into an impromptu dance in front of the mandir, channeling his inner Hanuman. I can only imagine the frenzy that must have caused among his die-hard fans!

You know, as a superstar, the perks are nice. Private jets, entourages, and never having to pump your own gas again. But every now and then it’s refreshing to ditch the diva lifestyle and do something simple like take a road trip.
When the opportunity came up to visit Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, I couldn’t pass it up. After all, what self-respecting Tamilian would turn down a chance to visit one of the holiest sites in Hinduism? The UP government, bless their hearts, rolled out the red carpet to make sure my pilgrimage went smoothly.
Transport and Traffic
Instead of my usual mode of transport (which may or may not involve a robotic elephant), they provided a more modest SUV and police escort to cut through the crowds. I have to admit, it felt good to watch the sea of fans part as our little motorcade drove by. No traffic jams or potholes would dare get in the way of Rajinikanth!
Darshan
In Ayodhya, we had VIP access for darshan at the makeshift Ram Mandir. As I gazed upon the deity of Shri Ram Lalla, I felt a sense of peace wash over me. It reminded me of simpler days in Karnataka where I would visit local temples with my family. Even superstars need moments of spirituality and humility.
