The latest leak on the subject comes from none other than the official Vivo Weibo account, which has confirmed the handset’s arrival sometime in November, with pre-orders set to open on October 30th. Alongside this announcement, we also get to see what appears to be official press renders of both handsets… at least as far as the back goes, anyway.
First Look
Our first look at leaked renders of what is claimed to be Vivo’s upcoming flagship phone, rumored to be called X80 Pro. The image seems to show an iPhone-like notch up top with a triple camera setup inside and another lens around the back. It also includes a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, something not seen on many recent Vivo phones; those have either embedded scanners or facial recognition instead.
This would seem to confirm that, at least from one perspective, there will be no more phones without a dedicated scanner until someone figures out how to embed one under that pretty display. We’ll still have our hopes for in-display biometrics until then.
We’ve got our first look at some purported renders of what could be Vivo’s next big thing—and if they’re real, it could be quite something indeed. If you recall, a rumor surfaced earlier today claiming that China’s Vivo would unveil its new X80 series during MWC Shanghai next month.
According to that same report, it appears as though we may get two models in total: an X80 and an X80 Plus. Today’s images only show off one of them so far but it appears as though it will take some cues from Samsung’s latest Galaxy S10 lineup with a teardrop-shaped notch up top housing three cameras.
Flagship Features & Specs
Vivo has been flaunting its newest tech in China in recent months, and now it looks like that’s finally coming to India. The Vivo X Series is set to offer flagship-level features like an in-display fingerprint sensor, a selfie camera with 3D effects, as well as Vivo’s improved piezoelectric vibration motor (PVM) earpiece technology.
Features include 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, and a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The highlight feature of the device will be its 48MP main camera setup, which consists of three sensors – one 12MP wide-angle lens, one 12MP telephoto lens, and one 8MP super wide-angle lens.
Vivo x80 pro specifications
Meanwhile, Vivo is gearing up to announce its first smartphone that features four rear cameras. The Vivo x80 pro will have a total of four cameras at its back and will be joined by a 5G variant as well.
Although no specifications were revealed, we expect Vivo to pack a 48MP primary camera with a 4-in-1 quad-camera setup at its back. Given these rumors, it’s unlikely Vivo will opt for an in-display fingerprint scanner which has been in demand lately.
Its other specs include 8GB RAM and 128GB storage but we expect more details to arrive on August 23 when Vivo will host an event in China. Vivo recently launched Vivo X21 which was introduced with a new under-display fingerprint sensor.
However, that feature wasn’t made available until now and users still rely on the face unlock or rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Vivo should consider adding some improvements over those sensors like live previews or edge detection support so users can quickly get into their phones.
We also don’t know if Vivo will retain its Face Unlock feature since they may think Face Unlock isn’t reliable enough especially in a dark environment. So what do you think about Vivo X80 Pro? Do you think Vivo will unveil it soon? Let us know via the comments below!
The Vivo X80 series gets an official launch date amid a slew of leaks. The Vivo X80 series has been in news for quite some time now and with a plethora of leaks on its design and specs doing rounds, it is only apt that we hear from one of its most popular leakster @OnLeaks on why does he think Vivo has released all these X80 leaks? (an unofficial) or can be said to be leaked, rumors about smartphones are pretty common nowadays.
But if you’re someone who follows smartphone launches religiously then you’d know that just because speculations are floating around doesn’t mean that a company is ready to make an announcement yet.
But OnLeaks tweeted today saying One last thing regarding #XF10: I have no idea why they did so many presses renders/mockups before announcing, but I guess they did not want to wait anymore.
While OnLeaks didn’t directly say anything regarding his sources, it sure looks like he was hinting at Vivo leaking images of their phone! It sure seems like Vivo had officially announced the launch date for their upcoming phones even though there were still several weeks left until August 2nd.
If that wasn’t enough, not only did Vivo officially announce when they were going to unveil their new phones but they also revealed what was inside them too! In other words: They kind of leaked their phone! As per Vivo’s tweet, the company will hold an event on August 2nd where they will reveal three new smartphones – two flagships and a low-end model.
